Roots Worth Tending

Everett · Snohomish County, Washington

Community support that builds autonomy.

A volunteer effort in Everett: supply drives and benefit events for neighbors in Snohomish County.

Michael, in a brown t-shirt, sits cross-legged on the carpet at the far end of a hallway, filling about twenty black backpacks lined up in a long row that leads toward the camera. Loose supplies and a foil emergency blanket rest on the floor beside him. The photo looks down the hallway toward him from the near end; a white handrail runs along the left wall and a framed picture hangs by the doorway behind him. The overall feel is quiet and focused — one person doing a large job by hand.
